Orlando Pirates coach Milutin Sredojevic will be wary of losing some of his key players through suspension when they face SuperSport United on Wednesday evening.
The Buccaneers are set to travel to Nelspruit to lock horns with Matsatsantsa in an Absa Premiership clash at the Mbombela Stadium in midweek, with a full squad at their disposal.
However, several of their key players are on the verge of a one match suspension should they be cautioned in any of their upcoming fixtures, which also include AmaZulu, Golden Arrows and Bloemfontein Celtic over the next two weeks.
Goalkeeper Siyabonga Mpontshane, defenders Asavela Mbekile and Happy Jele, as well as attackers Thembinkosi Lorch and Augustine Mulenga are all on three yellow cards heading into Wednesday’s match.
Mpontshane is perhaps safer than his outfield teammates, but Jele has yet to miss a league game this season, having lost his place in goal to Wayne Sandilands, while Lorch is the club’s top goal scorer and Mulenga has thus far registered the most assists across all competitions.
Pirates are currently third – four points off log leaders Bidvest Wits and one behind second placed Mamelodi Sundowns, who will be in action on Tuesday evening and could leap-frog The Clever Boys should they beat Polokwane City due to a superior goal difference.
