Former Orlando Pirates and AmaZulu midfielder Thamsanqa Sangweni will know his future at Maritzburg United by the end of the week.

Sangweni was offloaded by Chippa United in the January transfer window and last week it was confirmed that the younger brother of Siyabonga is trying his luck with the Team of Choice.

Maritzburg chairman Farook Kadodia says coach Eric Tinkler will make a decision on the midfielder soon.

"I'm waiting for the coach to tell us any updates on him, because he's been training with us for a couple of days," Kadodia tells KickOff.com.

"When the coach is happy we will sign him and if not, we will let him go."

Tinkler adds: "We are still accessing him, a decision will be made before Monday."

Sangweni enjoyed his football during his days at AmaZulu from 2009 to 2012 before challenging spells with Mamelodi Sundowns and Ajax Cape Town from 2012 to 2015.

He then moved to Chippa United and regained his form, which led to him joining Orlando Pirates but he struggled for game-time in the 2017/18 season before going back to the Chilli Boys, where he lasted only six months.
