Mamelodi Sundowns are set to let go of Toni Silva after the player from Equatorial Guinea received an offer from an unnamed Egyptian club.
Silva joined Sundowns before the start of the new season and was seen as a possible replacement for Khama Billiat, who left the defending Absa Premiership champions to join Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs.
But the 25-year-old, who was previously in the junior teams of Liverpool and Chelsea, has struggled to break into the team, despite some promising performances early on in the campaign.
According to sources close to Sundowns, negotiations between the Brazilians and the unnamed Egyptian team are at an advanced stage and the player could leave Chloorkop anytime.
“Toni Silva is leaving Sundowns after he received an offer from Egypt,” said the source.
Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has also confirmed that Silva is on his way out at Chloorkop after he requested the club allow him to move abroad in the new year.
He has made 11 appearances in all competitions, scoring two goals. He last featured for Downs in an Absa Premiership match against Baroka FC in November.
Sundowns have already parted ways with left-back Siyabonga Zulu, who is set to make a move to struggling Chippa United. Others that could leave the club this month are Mogakolodi Ngele, Lucky Mohomi, George Lebese and Cuthbert Malajila.
