Cape Town City playmaker Teko Modise is still awaiting clarity on his future at the club.

The 36-year-old's contract with City expires in June, as does the existing deal of versatile teammate Thamsanqa Mkhize.

Ciitzens coach Benni McCarthy has indicated he wants the pair to stay on with the club next season.

"These are two very important players in the team. Teko, with his experience," McCarthy said.

"I think Teko and his agent will need to sit with the chairman [John Comitis].

"But as far as I am concerned, these players, when I am in a suitable position, I put them in."

There is also uncertainy surrounding defensive midfielder Roland Putsche, who is likewise in the last six months of his contract with the coastal outfit.

The 27-year-old Austrian reiterated his value with a man-of-the-match display and late equaliser in the 2-2 draw with Baroka at Cape Town Stadium on Saturday.
