Sredojevic: We did not disappoint

Orlando Pirates coach Milutin Sredojevic was pleased with his side's physical and mental state but admitted they were lacking in one key aspect against FC Platinum.

Pirates were held to a goalless stalemate away to the Zimbabwean champions in Bulawayo on Saturday, opening their CAF Champions League group stage campaign with only a point.

The Barbourfields Stadium, as predicted by local boy Kudakwashe Mahachi, was packed to the rafters with mostly Buccaneers supporters.

Despite this, the Soweto giants were unable to carve through the Platinum Boys' defence, and Sredojevic felt that was the only thing lacking in their performance.

"We believe that we have matched from start to end, to go through the match being mentally strong enough and physically fit enough to succeed in all the aspects technically and tactically, in order to not concede," said 'Micho'.

"But there is a concern, which is that we were supposed to be more adventurous in that aspect [of trying to score]."

The Serbian tactician insisted they did not let the masses down despite their shortcomings in front of goal, as he lauded the love they received from the crowd.

"Every player's pride is to have people supporting. Here supporters have gone a step further in supporting us and loving us," he added.

"We believe that we did not disappoint them with the commitment and dedication and hard work, and we thank them for all the support they gave us."
