Toffees bounce back against Cherries

Everton claimed a 2-0 victory over Bournemouth at a rainy Goodison Park in an English Premier League encounter.

Marco Silva's charges were desperate for a return to winning ways after suffering back-to-back league defeats coming into the encounter, while the Cherries were looking to end a three-game losing run.

In the 14th minute, David Brooks broke through on goal for Bournemouth before his shot struck the inside of the post a the visitors pushed for an early goal.

With 31 minutes on the clock, Everton managed to carve out an opening as Bernard got onto the end of a cross to head inches over the crossbar.

Michael Keane's headed effort from Lucas Digne’s cross was unfortunate to strike the crossbar three minutes before halftime.

Four minutes into the second half, Richarlison’s goal-bound effort was cleared off the line by Nathan Ake this after the attacker’s initial effort was blocked off goal.

On the hour mark, Kurt Zouma finally grabbed the lead for Everton, when the defender headed home from Lucas Digne's cross at near post,1-0.

Richarlison fashioned another goalscoring opportunity when his diving header flashed past the goals after 77 minutes.

With 90 minutes having elapsed, the fourth official raised five additional minutes but Daniel Calvert-Lewin sealed the win for Everton with a close range header to kill off the game.
