National Under-20 team coach Thabo Senong has stressed the importance of being well prepared for their COSAFA Championships final against neighbours Zimbabwe this afternoon.

Amajita, who have been in sublime form in the competition, take on Zimbabwe at Nkana Stadium in Zambia, looking to defend their crown.

“Zimbabwe has enjoyed an impressive run so far in this year’s tournament,” Senong told SAFA's website.

“They brought in good players who know how to attack. We just need to respect them, plan very well and come up with a proper game plan to help us win the match.”

Amajita have been ruthless in the tournament, scoring 10 goals in three matches thus far. They’ve also done extremely well in defence, keeping a clean sheet in all of their matches.

“We are very pleased with the team’s performance so far in this tournament, given the fact that we had a very limited amount of time to prepare for it,” Senong said.

“We scored a decent number of goals while making sure that we do not concede as well. This goes to show that we are one of the ambitious teams in our region and the African continent as well. We can only continue building from our previous performances, while keeping a sharp focus on the job that is at hand now.”

Amajita beat Angola 1-0 in the semi-finals to book a spot in the final, while Zimbabwe knocked out hosts Zambia with a 2-1 scoreline. It’s sure to be an entertaining final this afternoon.
