Goals from Son Heung-min and Dele Alli guided Tottenham Hotspur to a 2-0 win over Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.
Mauricio Potchetino opted to leave out top scorer Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen, with one eye on their UEFA Champions League clash with FC Barcelona.
Spurs saw a lot of the ball in the opening stages but they struggled to create chances in the final third, with Eriksen's absence quite visible.
The same could be said for the Foxes, who looked lively on the counter attack but it all came to a halt in the opposing 18-yard area as Hugo Lloris was largely untested.
Spurs managed to break the deadlock on the stroke of halftime as Son Heung-min found the back of the net with a superb curling effort from 20-yards out.
With the Foxes struggling to break down Spurs, Claud Puel introduced Rachid Gezzal and Marc Albrighton ten minutes into the second half.
However, the visitors doubled their lead three minutes later as Son turned provider to pick out Dele Alli, who nodded home at the far post.
Despite comfortably leading by two goals, Kane was introduced for the final 15 minutes of the encounter, replacing Son.
The Foxes kept on pushing for a way back into the encounter but the Spurs defence did well to silence Demarai Gray, although Jamie Vardy's pace was clearly a big miss for the host.
Nevertheless, 2-0 was how the clash ended as Spurs now turn their attention to the Catalan giants on Tuesday.
