Afcon wrap: Zambia's hopes ended

Mozambique ended Zambia's hopes of qualifying for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations on Sunday.

Madagascar 1-3 Sudan

Sudan handed Madagascar a stern 3-1 defeat away from home to keep alive their slim hopes of qualifying from Group B.

It took a brace from Mohamed Abdalla and Yasir Mohamed to set them on their own but there was literally no time for more as Andria found the consolation for the home side.

Mozambique 1-0 Zambia

Mozambique ended Zambia’s 2019 Afcon hopes with a 1-0 defeat in Maputo, courtesy of a first half strike from Reginaldo Faife.

With the last game to go, the Mozambicans now have the chance to grab second spot with a win in their final encounter.

Ethiopia 0-2 Ghana

A double from Jordan Ayew handed Ghana a 2-0 victory over Ethiopia in Addis Ababa that ensures their qualification objectives remain on track.

Placed in Group C, the Black Stars are now a stone throw away from qualification to next June’s finals set for Cameroon.

Swaziland 1-2 Niger

Niger came away with a 2-1 over Swaziland (now eSwatini), in a game of little proportions for either side given they are both eliminated from Group A already.

Rwanda 2-2 Central African Republic

A brace from Habibou Habib in either half with Jacques Tuyisenge doing the same for the Rwandas as early as the 10th and on the stroke of halftime.

The result does little to boost the qualification
