Morocco took control of Group B in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers after defeating Cameroon 2-0 on Friday evening.

Heading into the encounter, the Indomitable Lions were only side in the group yet to taste defeat after four minutes.

Morocco, meanwhile, were looking to close in on qualification following their 1-0 win over Comoros in the previous match day last month.

Despite having the likes of Eric Choupo-Moting, Christian Bassogog, Hakim Ziyech and Younes Belhanda on the pitch the opening 45 minutes failed to provide any goals.

However, the Morrocans were the livelier side in the first half, having registered 10 efforts compared to just the for the Indomitable Lions.

After a quiet start to the second half, Morocco broke the deadlock in the 54th minute, with Ziyech converting a penalty.

The lead was doubled in the 66th minute as Ziyech completed his brace with a close range finish to put the Moroccans in the driving seat.

Cameroon played the final 10 minutes with ten men after Karl Ekambi was given his marching orders for picking up his second yellow card of the game.

Nevertheless, 2-0 was how the score remained as Morocco surged to the top of the group.
