Baroka FC chairman Khurishi Mphahlele believes they have turned the corner and is hoping they can clinch the Telkom Knockout title.
Baroka, who have been trying to find their rhythm with head coach Wedson Nyirenda, have registered three victories in their last four matches in all competitions.
Two of these victories have seen them reach the semi-finals of the Telkom Knockout and the win in the Absa Premiership against Golden Arrows over the weekend was just the second of the season and the first since August. The win moved them up to 12th on the standings and they are not planning to go backwards from now on.
It’s been a difficult first half of the season for Bakgaga, but Mphahlele feels they have finally found their feet with Nyirenda, a former Zambia coach.
“Baroka Football Club has turned the corner, in the league and in the cup competition. The last time we won two games in succession was the beginning of last year. Now we have won two games in succession and we won them convincingly. We scored four goals in two games [against Mamelodi Sundowns and Arrows]. We are positive and we are hoping that we can play in the finals of the Telkom Cup,” Mphahlele tells KickOff.com.
Bakgaga will play defending champions Bidvest Wits in the semis next weekend.
