Kaizer Chiefs coach Giovanni Solinas still believes in the ability of Siphelele Ntshangase, but says the team currently needs "two pit bulls" in central midfield.

Ntshangase, a ball-playing attacker, has not featured in the club's last three games against SuperSport United, Black Leopards and Chippa United.

In the Telkom Knockout quarter-final win over SuperSport, Solinas went with George Maluleka and Willard Katsande in the engine room.

In the Absa Premiership defeat of Leopards, Solinas started with Katsande and Adriamirado 'Dax' Andrianarimanana, with the latter replaced by Maluleka in the 80th minute at FNB Stadium.

The Italian tactician then opted for Katsande and Maluleka in the goalless league draw with Chippa United at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban on Saturday.

"No particular reasons," Solinas responded when asked about Ntshangase's absence.

"In the last three games we played with Katsande-Maluleka, Katsande and Dax, because in this moment we need balance in the midfield. In the last three games we haven't conceded a goal. We haven't conceded a goal.

"Not only the defence is playing well but also in front of the defence, the midfielders, they did a good job.

"Ntshangase is a very good player but Ntshangase is more offensive, a more attacking midfielder.

"In this moment we need two midfielders, two pit bulls to recover the ball. But Ntshangase is very good player, me, I believe in him.

"Ntshangase starts the process in improving the offensive job, because Ntshangase is very good.

"But in the future Ntshangase will play ... again."

Ntshangase last played for the Glamour Boys in the Soweto Derby loss to Orlando Pirates on October 27.

Chiefs will face Pirates after the FIFA break in the Telkom Knockout semi-finals at a sold-out Moses Mabhida on November 24 (15h00 kick-off).
