Real Madrid thumped Celta Vigo 4-2 in LaLiga to continue their resurgence under their interim boss.
It was seen as the finale for Santiago Solari to evaluate whether or not he is up to the task to hold the position long-term.
Real made a swifting start after Karim Benzema shot from inside the box, but couldn’t hit the back of the net with Adrian Odriozola missing the follow-up as well.
The big chance for Celta found Sofiane Boufael at the end of a cross on the far side, but flashed his strike way across the face of goal.
A header from inside the box by Lucas Vazquez following a low cross found its way over the top closer to the half and hour mark.
On 23 minutes, a superb delivery from Luka Modric and a good touch from Benzema saw him fire Los Blancos in front with a clinical finish.
On the stroke of halftime, Javier Sanchez replaced Sergio Reguilon as the first change from Solari with the lead intact.
In the second half, the top of the crossbar prevented Benzema from finding a second after shooting from outside the box.
The Frenchman weren’t denied later on as he completed his brace with a cool finish from inside the box.
Vigo pulled one back courtesy of Hugo Mallo who crept inside the box to finish off a nice move on 61 minutes.
The home side were reduced to 10-men as Gustavo Cabral was handed his marching orders for a second bookable offence.
With the game nearing its end, Real became more and more dominant with every ball on their feet and it was just a matter of time before their tally was increased.
After earning a penalty following a foul on Benzema, captain Sergio Ramos stepped ahead to bury it with ease for a resounding lead.
A minute in injury time, Dani Ceballos dropped his shoulders and beat two defenders before cracking the net with a top-drawer strike.
Celta received a second consolation in added time, with Brais Méndez shot deflected off the defence before creeping in the bottom corner to round off the match.
