Bloemfontein Celtic coach Steve Komphela says he has to work on the mental strength of promising striker Tshegofatso Mabasa.

Mabasa has made an impressive start to the 2018/19 campaign, bagging three goals in eight Absa Premiership matches. That's already more than the two goals he managed to score the whole of last season.

The 22-year-old no doubt has the talent to be a lethal striker, but Komphela feels he has to be stronger mentally to make sure that his mistakes do not get the better of him.

"I think he needs to be stronger mentally. Talent he's got, technical ability he has, he knows how to get into spaces and they do provide him with goals. The one thing that I picked up is that there is a goal he missed against Free State Stars and after missing that ball he dropped [his head]. At this level you have to forget the mistakes and look at what it is you do next," Komphela tells KickOff.com.

"So he needs to get to a certain level of mental strength, where as a striker you miss but we remember the goals you score. But we shall work on him because talent he's got."
