Chiefs, who were booted out of the MTN8 by eventual finalists SuperSport United earlier in the season, will look to end the rut in the next domestic cup on offer, which is the Telkom Knockout.

Amakhosi will start their TKO campaign when they host Black Leopards in the last-16 of the competition at FNB Stadium on October 21.

"Kaizer Chiefs compete to try to win trophies," said Solinas, who joined Chiefs in the off-season following the resignation of his predecessor Steve Komphela in April.

"But competition is difficult here, it is very strong. It is not easy because the opponents are very good.

"We try to fight to win trophies because we are Kaizer Chiefs ... Kaizer Chiefs compete to win trophies.

"We need the trophy for our fans, to make our fans happy. So we are fighting and working hard to [achieve) that," concluded the Italian.

Chiefs are third on the Absa Premiership table with 14 points from 10 games - two points behind arch-rivals Orlando Pirates, and three shy of Bidvest Wits, who have a match in hand.
