Giovanni Solinas says competition for starting berths is important at a 'big club' like Kaizer Chiefs.

The AmaKhosi made it three wins in a row in the Absa Premiership after defeating AmaZulu 2-0 on Saturday evening.

Solinas made six changes to the team that beat Free State Stars 2-0 in midweek for the clash with Usuthu.

“We have a lot of players in the squad, we have a lot of good players. So the competition to play is very important," Solinas told SuperSport TV.

"Every player can play this is good because Kaizer Chiefs is a big club. We don’t only need 11 players but we also need good players on the bench."

Solinas was impressed with the way his side played against Usuthu, especially their defending.

“I’m very happy about the performance [and] the result. I think my players deserve to win this game, they played a beautiful game. So I’m happy for me, my players, the club and our fans," he added.

“Defensively the job is much better. The whole team is involved in the defensive job. They support each other. This is very important we play together.

“In the PSL every game is difficult, no easy game. So now we’ll have a two days off and we’ll restart the preparation for the next game,” he said.
