Despite admitting that it was not one of the best games Banyana Banyana played, coach Desiree Ellis gave credit to her players for reaching the final of the 2018 Cosafa Women’s Championship final.

Banyana, who finished top of their group with nine points in three matches, beat Uganda 2-0 in the semi-final to book themselves a spot in the deciding match against Cameroon, which will be played at Wolfson Stadium on Saturday (12h00).

Banyana broke the deadlock in the first 10 minutes of the game through midfield sensation Linda Motlhalo and they had to wait just over 60 minutes to get their second of the match, scored by striker Jermaine Seoposenwe.

Ellis was happy with the result, but was not entirely pleased with the performance.

“I think we were not at our best. We gave away a lot of unnecessary possession and we also missed a lot of opportunities when it was just easy to tap the ball in. But we were always in control and in that way we kept the tempo up,” she said after the game.

“At times, especially in the final third, when we attacked we had a lot of numbers in the box. Decision making at times we made the wrong pass when others are in a good position. But we are very happy with the result.”
