Ayanda Patosi says his first goal gave Cape Town City the fighting spirit needed to salvage a draw with Orlando Pirates.

Patosi netted a brace as City come from behind to secure a 2-2 draw at Orlando Stadium on Wednesday evening.

“I think the first goal I scored gave the team the spirit to come and fight for another goal. It was a nice goal – when I get in that area I tell myself I just have to shoot, either left or right and lucky enough it was a goal," Patosi told SuperSport TV.

“The second goal, it was a set-piece and I kick set-pieces nicely, and I always try and direct them towards goals, and today it worked.

Patosi, who scooped up the Man of the Match award, admits they didn't expect to concede two early goals.

“It was tough. We knew when coming from Cape Town to Orlando it was going to be tough. We didn’t expect to concede two goals at set-pieces early on.

“But in the dressing room at halftime the [assistant] coach [Vasili Manousakis] pumped us up and we knew we had to fight.

“Our coach [Benni McCarthy] is not here and we wanted to fight for him because his wife is in the hospital. I am very proud of the boys and the way they came back.”
