Pirates weigh up Mobara options

Abbubaker Mobara appears set to leave Orlando Pirates for free at the end of the season, but the Buccaneers could also look to cash in when the January transfer window opens.

Mobara, who is in the final year of his contract, will be eligible to start negotiations for a pre-contract in January, and KickOff.com understands that Bidvest Wits are a strong contender to secure his services.

The Clever Boys have previously expressed an interest in getting the former Ajax Cape Town player on board, while Absa Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns have also been monitoring the utility player.

The 24-year-old has failed to win over coach Milutin Sredojevic at Pirates this season, featuring just once as a substitute in a 1-0 victory at Chippa United on August 8.

When this website contacted Mobara's agent Lance Davids, he replied: “No comment, he is still contracted to Pirates. Thanks for asking.”
