Five things we learnt from weekend action

After another exciting round of Absa Premiership football, KickOff.com looks at five talking points.
Mlambo deserves Bafana call-up
South Africa is blessed with a number of central midfielders, but the one currently head and shoulders above the rest is Xola Mlambo, whose deft back heel to set up Thembinkosi Lorch’s goal against SuperSport United on Saturday had tongues wagging. He is growing as a box-to-box midfielder and would certainly add value to the senior national team.
Mahlambi could be Downs’ go-to man
Sundowns may not have walked away with three points against AmaZulu on Sunday, but Phakamani Mahlambi announced his arrival with a goal on debut. Having seen little action during his time with Al Ahly, Mahlamabi is hungry to get back on track and this will only benefit Sundowns. Once he has fully settled in, the former Bidvest Wits man will be a nightmare for defenders
Zuma an unsung hero in Solinas’s attack
While a lot of attention is on Khama Billiat at Chiefs, Dumisani Zuma is fast proving that he is a key man in coach Giovanni Solinas’s attack. Zuma had a good game against Cape Town City on Saturday, setting up Philani Zulu for Amakhosi’s fourth of the afternoon. He makes some intelligent runs and plays through some good passes.
Pirates are finding their feet
Pirates played one of their best matches of the season so far when they finally broke the hoodoo SuperSport had over them on Saturday. While they’ll admit that there’s room for improvement, the Buccaneers will also be happy with how things are looking for them. 'Micho' just has to find his strongest line-up, so that they can be more consistent.
Tshegofatso Mabasa a key man for Komphela
The striker showed glimpses of brilliance for Bloemfontein Celtic last season, but it now looks like he is the main man for Steve Komphela this term. He’s scored three goals in five apperances so far, which is a goal more than he managed last term in 16 matches. He is growing in confidence and has a coach that will no doubt give him all the support he needs.
