Orlando Pirates' new Brazilian signing Caio Marcelo says he is settling in well at the club, and is under no illusion as to what lies ahead.
Marcelo recently completed his move from Brazilian fourth-tier side Nova Iguaçu to The Buccaneers on transfer deadline day, after impressing on trial.
The 20-year-old left-footed centre-back is said to have caught the eye of Bucs assistant coach Rhulani Mokwena during the club's youth tour of Rio de Janeiro earlier this year.
He was then invited to the first team's pre-season in July, and featured in matches against TP Mazembe, Forest Rangers, Power Dynamos, Cape Town City and Stellenbosch FC.
Marcelo, who was made to wait for his contract offer as Pirates weighed up their options before utilising their final foreign spot for the season, has since reflected on his stay at the Soweto giants thus far.
“I am settling in very nicely at the club. My teammates and the technical staff have been very accommodating and welcoming ever since I’ve arrived,” Marcelo told the club's website, according to his translator.
“This is my first time playing outside of Brazil, therefore I don’t expect an easy ride.
"I still have to get used to my surroundings, get to understand my teammates and a new style of play.
"All this takes time so I’m not in a hurry as there’s still a lot to learn.”
