Ngele earns national team call-up

Botswana coach David Bright has shown faith in want-away Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Mogakolodi Ngele, despite his inactivity this season.

Ngele has been called up to The Zebras squad for their upcoming Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Angola this weekend.

The 27-year-old attacker, however, has yet to taste competitive action this season after being demoted to The Brazilians' reserve team.

Since arriving at Chloorkop in 2014 from Cape Umoya United (then known as Platinum Stars), the Botswana international has managed just five starts for the Tshwane outfit amid three different loan spells.

This season the former Township Rollers star has been frozen out after failing to secure an exit before the close of the transfer window, yet Bright has shown faith in the winger’s ability by including him in his 20-man squad.

"Despite the fact that he has not been registered with Sundowns’ senior team, he remains important to the Zebras,” explained Bright to the media.

“His experience will benefit the team. I spoke to David Notoane and Surprise Moriri (Sundowns reserve coaches) and they have informed me that, though ‘Tsotso’ isn't up to scratch, he can give us something.”

Other PSL stars that have made the cut include Chippa United duo Thatayaone Kgamanyane and Kabelo Seakanyeng, Baroka's pair of Onkabetse Makgantai and Mpho Kgaswane, Bloemfontein Celtic reserve goalkeeper Kabelo Dambe as well as Highlands Park's new signing Lesenya Ramoraka.

The round two Group I Nations Cup qualifier is set to take place at the November 11 Stadium in Luanda on Sunday, with either side yet to register a point. Burkina Faso and Mauritania meet in the group’s other fixture.
