Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane is confident his side can overcome Horoya in their do-or-die CAF Champions League clash this evening.
Currently sitting third in Group C, three points behind this evening’s opponents with one group stage game remaining, Sundowns have no alternative but to beat Horoya if they wish to continue their continental campaign.
And Mosimane is confident they will do so.
“Can we beat Horoya? Yes,” he said. “It won’t be easy. Do I have the team to beat Horoya? Yes. We are playing in Pretoria, a goal is always there, it’s coming – at 20 minutes, it’s there. It might not be 20 minutes as I say, but in the end we have to win hey? When we played that Togo team [AS Togo Port] it was a win at all costs – if we lost we were out … but I think you know what the score was at half-time [2-0]. We have to do what we have to do … it’s not easy, but we have to survive.”
Mosimane reiterated that his side’s priority will always be the CAF Champions League, saying his side’s participation is part of “a national agenda”.
“There’s a South African flag flying at those games above me when I’m on the touchline,” he said. “There’s four flags at those games: CAF, FIFA, Morocco [vs Wydad Casablanca] and South Africa. Is there a flag flying here? We have to help Bafana Bafana qualify for the World Cup and the Cup of Nations.”
Kick-off at Lucas Moripe Stadium is set for 18h00, with tickets selling for R20, or free entry for fans dressed in yellow.
