Argentina FA part ways with Sampaoli

The Argentine Football Association have decided to part ways with head coach Jorge Sampaoli.

La Albiceleste failed to live up the favourites tag at the 2018 World Cup as they bowed out in the round of 16.

Sampaoli received a lot of critiscim for the country's display at the tournament and the AFA have decided to end his stay with the team.

A statement on the AFA's website read,"On the day of the date, the Argentine Football Association and Jorge Sampaoli reached a mutual agreement to finish their cycle under the Argentine National Team.

"Today, the Argentine Football Association and the former national team coach, Jorge Sampaoli, have mutually agreed to the termination of their contract. Likewise, the Physical Trainer, Jorge Desio and the video analyst, Matías Manna, also disassociated themselves.

"Next Tuesday it will be defined who will be in charge of the Under 20 Team in the COTIF L'Alcudia 2018 tournament.

"This Association thanks the professionals for the activity developed within the Selected during their cycle."
