Buffon has 'the enthusiasm of a child'

New Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon says he still has "the enthusiasm of a child" as he prepares for a new adventure in France's Ligue 1.

The former World Cup winner enjoyed a glittering 17-year stay with Juventus, winning nine Series A titles, five Coppa Italia crowns and the UEFA Cup.

However, he brought down the curtain on that career last month after joining PSG on a one-year deal, half-way through which the keeper will celebrate his 41st birthday.

And while many expected Buffon to hang up his gloves this year, especially after Italy's failure to qualify for the 2018 World Cup finals, the veteran feels he still has something to offer the game.

"I've arrived in Paris with the enthusiasm of a child," he said.

"I have always looked for challenges. Today, I had my first training session in Paris. It was nice to communicate in and hear a new language spoken.

"Everyone wants to have an important role on the team. I want to prove I'm still a great goalkeeper."
