Khan: No grudge against Pitso

Football analyst Farouk Khan says there has never been an agenda to promote Fadlu Davids to win the Absa Premiership Coach of the Season award and has made it clear that he has no say on who wins it.
Khan, a convener of judges for the Coach and Player of the Month awards, was called out by Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane last night for backing Maritzburg United’s Davids to win the award at the season end function next month.
Mosimane said Khan and the panel on SuperSport's Extra Time is against him. He went onto say Khan is conflicted, but the youth coach says he does not pick who gets to win the award.
“He has the freedom of speech and he can say what he wants to,” Khan tells KickOff.com.
“When you are emotional sometimes you say things and I don’t keep a grudge against that because sometimes when you are hitting at one person you are aiming for somebody else.
“There was never an agenda by SuperSport, me or Robert [Marawa] to promote anybody for the coach of the season.
“I am in no way involved with coach of the season. I am a convener for the monthly awards and on several occasions I have seconded the votes for Pitso, not based on the fact that I know him, but based on the excellent performance with his team. I am a great admirer of the work he has done.
“It cannot be conflicting if I am not part of the specific panel for coach of the season. The year end function is when different panels are formed. I have never even been close to the coach of the year award. Last year I was involved with the young player of the year and I think that’s because of my experience with the youth. Whoever says I am conflicted does not have the facts.”
