Downs assessing foreign duo

KickOff.com can reveal that Mamelodi Sundowns have handed a trial to Uruguayan midfielder Richard Rodriguez and another foreigner identified as Duban Renteria.

The pair were spotted at Chloorkop today.

Rodriguez can also play at left-back, while Renteria is reportedly a striker.

According to a source at Sundowns, the club is still deciding whether to sign any of the two players for next season.

"They are only here for trials. The club has not yet made a decision," says the source.

Downs coach Pitso Mosimane has a history of bringing South Americans to the Tshwane giants, having recruited Rodriguez's compatriot Gaston Sirino in January.

Mosimane also recruited the likes of Brazil's Ricardo Nascimento and Colombian striker Leonardo Castro, who has since linked up with Kaizer Chiefs.
