Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany says the club has a 'once in a lifetime opportunity' after their 2-0 victory over Stoke City on Monday evening.

David Silva's brace at the Bet365 Stadium was enough for the Citizens to maintain their 16 point lead at the summit of the Premier League and their inspirational captain Vincent Kompany beamed with excitement over what the three points meant.

After 30 rounds of fixtures, Pep Guardiola's side are two victories away from securing league honours.

And three points against Everton in their next league encounter will see the runaway leaders have the chance to secure the title in the Manchester Derby at the Etihad on 7 April.

"Everybody in the blue side of Manchester knows it's a once in a lifetime opportunity," Kompany said after the 2-0 win over Stoke City, as quoted by BBC Football.

"But steady, it won't be handed to us."
