Tshabalala cleans up at Chiefs

Posted: 14 May 2009 Time: 10:41 pm

Siphiwe Tshabalala was the big winner at Thursday night’s Kaizer Chiefs end-of-season function, walking away with six awards.

In a generally disappointing season for the Amakhosi, the Bafana Bafana winger consistently delivered good performances, winning him the Player and Players’ Player of the Year awards. He also picked up the Website Player of the Year, Top Scorer, Goal of the Season and Readers’ Choice awards.

All-and-all Tshabalala left the awards with R170 000 in prize-money, as well as a Nissan X-Trail.   Most Improved Player went to defender Thabang Rooi, while veteran winger Arthur Zwane walked away with the Fair Player award.   Jimmy Tau was named the Best Dressed Player, while Jackson Mokoena, Ryder Mofokeng and Thami Myaluza won the Chairman’s Award.

Wow, Big up to the Kick off team for giving us stories as they break, even the chiefs website doesnt have this info as yet clearly cos someone is still snoring, as for Spiwe winning those awards I must say that I am gobsmacked cos in my view the guy let chiefs down in most of the times he played, he tends to hold on the ball forever which tends to irritate me from my couch let alone the strikers waiting for the ball.
I guess its a question of saying in the absense of the best the worst becomes the greatest.

Still on breaking news, can someone explain the theory behind the exclusion of Hanekanye from Bafana Bafana, Santana had a chance to rectify his earlier blunder, but he chose to select Mbuyane ahead of Richard? What's happening here? Under which merits does Mbuyane gets selected? This Santana guy wont be going nowhere if he choses to arrogant.

Well done Tshabalala, may you produce an even better performence next season. May your good performence do the talking for us in the field of play at the Confed Cup. May u be praised by not only those who reside in SA but those overseas. May you be rewarded with an European contract. Halala Khosi Halala

Henyekane was not chosen simply because he is playing for Arrows. Safa hate to see more players coming from so called small teams. To most soccer fans including myself, Henyekane is 2008/2009 season player of the year. National call up or not.

Sphiwe ntwana, you deserve it. Although at times you didnt play at your best but at the close of the season you really got going. You were consistent and I really hope you take your form to the Confed Cup and the next season. Before I forget, please do some target practice, your long range shots leave a lot to be desired most of the times. You scored brilliant goals with those long volleys at times but please, practice makes perfect. Sure ntwana

I don't think we can blame all this to Santana because he is not South African, what is Pitso saying,he is the assistant coach,so probably they see that the player is not yet to the Bafana level of which I can aggree with it,I'm not yet convinced by the Henekanye guy,yes he scored the goals but I don't think he is good enough.

We can only say well done Shabba. Now the onus is in you to propel the Amakhosi machinery to the pinnacle. You have sometimes let your fans down, the accolades you received last night should serve as a motivating factor for you next season and carry the fans expectations on your shoulders. We love you Shabba and we pin our hopes on you. Adios for now.

Well Simphiwe congra ma man. U deserve them.

On Henekanye, I think it was a wise move from Santana, Look guys its too late for the coach to introduce new players in the Squad at this crucial momemnt. The is a lot that need to be considered whn choosing players. The players that have been selected have already been with Bafana before. Not long ago we were complaining abt consistence in bafana squad, forget ABT players form for now. Obvioius all he players know the importance of the Tournament therefore they will deliver. As for Mphela give the guy a chance and support. as the saying go "if u want someone to delver just tell them they are the best and they are playing well then thgey will improve. If the player is down its up to us as suppoters to cheers them up and push them not destroy them.

Umubona wami nami lo! I dont know about you...let us stop complaining and come up with solutions instead!

Kaizer Chiefs is the weakest team in the PSL, Simphiwe Tshabalala is their weakest player, and they owe any little success they have to referees, so to me all awards should have gone to referees who tried so hard to make them win. This is so unfair to referees: they make teams win at the cost to their reputation, and the players get the awards....

Mediocrity awarded! NXXX! The ceremony was a waste of money; none of the Chiefs players was outstanding this season!!!

They should've rather used the money spent on the ceremony and sold the X-Trail to raise funds for buying players or paying talents scouts around the country and the continent... when will Chiefs unearth another Mbesuma or an Elias Pelembe kind of player?? NXXX

Ntho tse Monate well done Ntwana. My worry is that we might lose you to European teams after this Confed Cup.
S'xokshin I disagree with you. We are not saying that santana must put Richard in the final 23 man team, the least he can do is to give the lad exposure to the national team setup because he has shown that he has a good potential to become a good striker, and if he is good enough during this training camp the might as well include him in the final 23 man team.

Well done Simphiwe: this is an end product from hard work x dedication + commitment....

Regarding Richards Henyekane's saga:

Previous season's top goal scorers: Chamanga
(Runner up-Diyo), Katongo (Runner up-Alton Meiring), Katongo (Runner up-Junior Kaizer), Mbesuma (Runner up-Sandile Ndlovu)....

To conclude our top goals scorers are inconsistent: Can someone tell me, Amongst our local boyz who's on fire?...these guys have been runners up - so they should have been selected kwi national team since they were the top scorers locally (excluding foreign players) who have been enjoying it: I think Henyekane is right, he needs more time to assess his performance and to improve on it....don't be fooled by one season performance,,,one swallow doesn't make it a summer season...

I 4 1 believe no plyer @ chiefs deserves any award watsoever. Chiefs was dismal, inconsistent nd conceded so many goals. Wt chiefs management r sayin literaly is they except mediocrity, inconsistency nd dismal perfomance by dis so called quality players. Honestly chiefs hv achieved nothing niks fokol! They were outplayed in da wafa wafa, pirates dt it twice in a season even golden arrows give 'em a soccer lesson nd maked our so called qaulity 2 look like a bunch of headles chickens dt doesn't no hw 2 kick a ball. As a big brand like chiefs 2 be beaten by a 1st devision team nd den say it cud hapen 2 any 1 as they excuse dts a disgrace. Finishin 3rd doesn't justify any thing. They were appaling!

I ma starting to fill pissed by some clowns here you cannot say chiefs was dismall and yet they finished number 3 in the league with a Trophy in their cabinet this season and then go on to say pirate we marvelous yet they did not win anything this season. that some player in Chiefs were good during the season that is they achiecved what thay achieved this season and one of them is Tshabalala.

Sometimes we need to be hosnest with ourselves. Shabba is player of the year at Kaizer chiefs whether Chiefs did well in the league or not. And by any standard i believe they have done well, winning one trophy and finishing on number 3 is an achievement. What we should rather be saying is that they did not meet their expectations for the 2008/9 season. And to prove that Shabba has done well he continued to feature for Bafana Bafana and also scored crucial goals for Amakhosi and Bafana.

The Game- thank you for welcoming me to the forum yesterday and i am really looking foward to engaging with you and giving dignity to this website. I also agree with you about Henyekane he just needs to work hard and prove to all that he is Bafana material, not a one hit wonder.

Yah neh! Mr Kali you gave us good records the last time around that included Bobsteaks' wine and we paid that account. Now provide us with that referee or those referees and the matches concerned and we pay. We can pay them. Mr Jon has a problem with only following S.A soccer only that is why he does not believe that the lower division teams are extra motivated to play big guns. Follow England, Spain, Italy or other leagues you'll see that big teams are beaten in cups that involve lower division teams
