Pitso hopes Brockie hits double figures

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane is hoping new signing Jeremy Brockie can do for his side in the CAF Champions League what he did for SuperSport United in the Confederation Cup.
Brockie finished as top scorer in the Confederation Cup with 10 goals last year and Mosimane would love for his man to get to that tally in this year’s Champions League.
The former SuperSport United striker, who made his debut as a substitute in the 3-0 victory over Platinum Stars over the weekend, is used to the travelling on the continent, so he will not be fazed by the challenge in the Champions League.
Sundowns' campaign kicks off in March against either Rayon Sports or LLB Academic FC, who meet in the preliminary round.
“If he can score 10 goals for us in the Champions League … eight should be able to make him top scorer. Ten will make him top scorer in the Champions League. Hopefully he gets there,” Mosimane said.
Mosimane says Brockie is not the type of player who can play alone upfront. He needs adequate support and he will get it from Percy Tau, who does a lot of running in and around the box.
“I hope he adjusts quicker. Where am I going to teach Brockie to score the goals? We deliver the ball and he must do the job . All he has to do is free himself and make sure that he is not disturbed and I think you know what he will do.
“SuperSport played with three midfielders, so here when he has Percy next to him he will be totally different. I don’t think he is the kind of striker who plays alone, he needs support because you are going to kill him if you don’t. Those who play alone [upfront] need to be quick or need to be able to dribble out of trouble and he is not that [type of player].
“So when you spend money on a player like that, you need to support him and you will get what you want.”
Brockie will be hoping he can get his first Sundowns goal when they take on Kaizer Chiefs in the Absa Premiership at FNB Stadium on Saturday (20h15).
