Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane says Botswana international Mogakolodi Ngele has to fight for his place in the starting line-up.
Ngele returned to Chloorkop after spending a season on loan to Bidvest Wits last term and won the Absa Premiership title with the Clever Boys.
The 27-year-old made 27 appearances in all competitions for Wits last season, but has only featured once for the Brazilians in this campaign, when he came on as a last-minute substitute against Cape Town City in December. He has also played for Sundowns in the MultiChoice Diski Challenge.
“'Tsotso' came and [he’s had] injuries. He is forever injured guys. He started [training] last week. First we had to wait for his work permit, he got it,” said Mosimane.
“We are then excited that he got his work permit and we say go get game-time in the MDC, which is good. Good mind and he is willing to play there to get the rhythm of the game. And then he gets injured. Even when Botswana wanted him for the national team he was injured.
“He is a good football player, but he must fight. He has a terrific left foot. Can we forget that? But he has to be on the pitch man.”
Mosimane says it’s difficult for players to get into the starting line-up if they are out for too long.
“Sundowns is a difficult club. If you stay out for a long time, then eish you come from the stands and then you must remove somebody from the bench. When you’ve removed somebody from the bench, then you must remove somebody who is playing. And that takes time, it’s not easy, you wait for your chance. But we like him, he is a good player.”
