Niasse charged with simulation

Everton striker Oumar Niasse has become the first Premier League footballer to be charged by the Football Association for simulation.

The Senegal forward won his side a first-half penalty against Crystal Palace on Saturday, which Leighton Baines duly struck home as the Toffees eventually twice came from behind to draw 2-2.

However, after reviewing video evidence, an FA panel - made up of one ex-match official, one ex-manager and one ex-player - deemed Niasse had 'successfully deceived a match official’.

The 27-year-old now has until 20h00 SA local time to respond to the charge, which is issued only when the panel unanimously deems the incident an offence.
