Maruping retains Celtic faith

Bloemfontein Celtic midfielder Mpho Maruping is still hopeful of making new coach Veselin Jelusic's team even though he is yet to play this season.

The Tembisa-born player made 27 appearances in all competitions last term.

"I haven't played at all this season," Maruping tells

"So far I haven't been in the team. Coaches are the ones who are deciding the team and the guys playing in my position have been doing very well, drawing and winning some games. I've been supporting the guys, it's just a matter of working hard for me.

"Everyone gets frustrated if they don't play, but for me... like a hard worker that I am I will continue to work hard to make sure that when I get the opportunity to play again, I grab it with both hands. It does get to me when I'm not playing but I continue to work hard.

"They [technical team] haven't explained to me why am I not playing because when they speak to us, they speak to the whole team not to individuals."

The former University of Pretoria man refused to explain his lack of game-time on the off-season arrival of fellow midfielder Lucky Baloyi.

"In my position I compete with Lucky Baloyi and Lantshane Phalane, but I don't think Baloyi's arrival have anything to do with my lack of game time."

Maruping is in the final year of his contract and remains committed to the Siwelele cause.

"This is my last season actually. Yes, I'm not happy for not being in the team but I'm prepared to work even harder. It frustrates me, but as a player it must frustrate you in a positive way than in a negative way."
