Swallows showing signs of life

Swallows FC have started the season on a positive note following their disastrous campaign last term where they finished bottom of the Gauteng ABC Motsepe League.

Swallows - who recently bought the third-tier status of Orange Vaal Professionals - beat Alexandra Black Aces 2-0 in their first game of the campaign under coach Isaac Mpasane.

The former Soweto giants have been in free-fall since getting relegated from the Absa Premiership in 2014/15, but Mpasane is determined to turn their fortunes around.

“The pitch did not help us but the boys are gelling and we are happy with the three points. That is what we want. To be honest, we are going to fight this season. We do not want to talk much about last season, but we are going to give it our best this season,” Mpasane told SAFA Media.

“We doubled our efforts and did not concede. That is important. Conceding in this league is a heavy price because coming back is not easy. Things will get better when we register more of our players who are still busy with their exams.”

Swallows will be in Nedbank Cup preliminary round action this weekened before taking on Dondol Stars in their next league match at TUT Pretoria West Campus on September 27. Dondol are fourth on the log thanks to a victory over M. Tigers United.
