SuperSport United midfielder Cole Alexander has declared himself “fully fit” ahead of the upcoming Nedbank Cup final against Orlando Pirates.

The defending Ke Yona champions lock horns with the Buccaneers at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday, with both teams in search of a record third title in this lucrative cup competition.

Alexander suffered a fractured metatarsal in his right foot earlier in the PSL season but and has since made a return to fitness and hopes to be part of the Nedbank Cup spectacular this weekend.

“I’m ready to battle with Pirates in the Nedbank Cup final if the coach Stuart Baxter decides and feel that I should play a part,” Alexander tells KickOff.com.

“My rehabilitation has been swift and smooth and I can’t wait to run onto the field again but this all depends on the coach.”

The 27-year-old former Ajax Cape Town, Chippa United and Polokwane City player says Matsatsantsa are also eager to retain their title in a repeat of last season’s spectacle when SuperSport defeat Pirates 3-2.

Should SuperSport reign supreme against the Bucs, it will also be Baxter’s third victory in the Nedbank Cup after lifting the trophy with Kaizer Chiefs back in 2013.

Alexander, though, is also fully aware that the Sea Robbers would want to seek revenge on Saturday for last season’s defeat and to end an otherwise dull 80th anniversary campaign on a high, but he would like to give Baxter the best possible sending off before he leaves the club to take permanent charge of Bafana Bafana.

“This would be the perfect send-off and way to show our gratitude to coach Baxter. Even if I don’t get picked for the final, we should strive as we can yet again make history for the club,” he adds.

“We know Pirates would be hurting and want to rescue their season as well,” Alexander concludes.
