Jordaan downplays Bafana defeat

SAFA president Danny Jordaan was understanding of Bafana Bafana's defeat, and welcomes the experimenting with players in their international friendly against Zambia.

Bafana surrendered a 1-0 half-time lead to suffer a first defeat in 19 matches as they went down 2-1 to an inexperienced Chipolopolo outfit at the Moruleng Stadium on Tuesday evening.

With 11 changes to Stuart Baxter's line-up from the win over Nigeria, Jordaan wasn't too bothered by the outcome of the friendly but admitted it was a dismal showing in the second half that led to the undoing of the home side.

"If ever there was a match of two halves... First half: total dominance; second half: disaster," Jordaan described the performance to SABC Sport.

"But I think what Baxter wanted to see was to give all the other players a chance, and I think many of the players impressed today.

"You've got to have a good challenge to assemble the team because the next step is [2018 FIFA] World Cup qualifiers."
