Cape Town City owner John Comitis admits to he is disappointed by Eric Tinkler’s unexpected departure to SuperSport United.

The former Orlando Pirates mentor made the shock departure this week after a successful season with the Citizens, where he guided them to Telkom Knockout glory while finishing third in the Absa Premiership, securing a place in next season’s CAF’s Confederation Cup.

“Of course I’m disappointed,” Comitis tells “There were plans in place to build on what we’ve achieved this season and now we have to re-strategise.”

Comitis claims that City have been inundated with applicants eager to fill the vacant post left by the former Bafana Bafana midfielder.

“We’ve received a list of at least 30 candidates interested in the job; it’s chaos,” the City boss concluded.

Former Orlando Pirates coach Ruud Krol is among the favourites to take over coaching duties at the Mother City club.
