Komphela: This is not on

Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela had little positive to say after his side's 2-0 loss to Platinum Stars.

Chiefs suffered a second straight defeat via first-half goals from man of the match Solomon Mathe and Enocent Mkhabela, who is on loan at Dikwena from the Glamour Boys.

“There’s nothing much to say,” Komphela is quoted as saying on his club's website following the defeat at Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg on Wednesday night.

“I am disappointed to say the least. We didn’t play at all; especially in the first half we were lethargic.

“This is not on. We only started playing after conceding the goal. And, look at their goals. Once again we let ourselves down by lapses of concentration in the box. We didn’t show the hunger to win this match.”

Komphela added: “Stars deserved this win. They showed hunger and they didn’t allow us space to play – credit to them. As for us, it is back to the drawing board to rectify this situation.”

The Glamour Boys, in fifth place on the table with 47 points from 29 matches, will end a second season without silverware under Komphela against new champions Bidvest Wits at FNB Stadium on May 27.
