Kekana misses out on Puskas

Hlompho Kekana has been unsuccessful in his FIFA Puskas Award pursuit after not garnering enough votes to make the three-player shortlist.

Kekana was up against the likes of Lionel Messi and Neymar in the world voting stakes and did not make the final three, although neither did those two superstars.

Another Brazilian representative Marlone, Venezuela’s female player Daniuska Rodriguez and Mohd Faiz Subri of Malaysia complete FIFA’s shortlist after the first round of voting.

The final round of voting is now open. View the top three goals as voted for by the public on FIFA.com: http://www.fifa.com/the-best-fifa-football-awards/puskas-award/index.html

Hard luck Hlompho, we did all we could, but it was not to be. Let’s just celebrate the quality of the goal one more time … surely the best individual strike ever executed by a Bafana Bafana player.
