Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter has described Knowledge Musona's injury as a mystery that is worrying the team.
The Zimbabwean international got what was initially described as an ankle sprain in the 2-0 win over AS Vita Club in the CAF Champions League on March 29 – a tie they lost 3-2 on aggregate.
He was expected to be fit again before the match against Mamelodi Sundowns on April 5, but almost two weeks after the injury he’s still battling to recover and Baxter, whose side failed to score in two consecutive matches against Sundowns and Black Aces is a worried man.
“Knowledge’s injury is a little bit of a mystery, because the medics can’t pin down a 100% diagnosis and that is worrying because if you don’t know what you are dealing with then it is difficult to treat it,” Baxter admits.
“So they are still in the process to really pin down exactly what it is; whether it is bleeding, ligament damage so they are just ticking the boxes. So unfortunately Knowledge had to go back for treatment this morning and I don’t know how quickly he would recover.
“We’ve been hoping that he would come back a lot sooner than this so it is a little bit of a mystery. We are waiting for him to get back and he is waiting to get back. In terms of missing him, we miss him. He was flying at the time he got injured,” he adds.
Musona has scored 16 goals in 25 starts in all competitions this season.
