Khune set for 200th game

Kaizer Chiefs skipper Itumeleng Khune will tonight reach a personal milestone of 200 games when he leads Amakhosi against Mpumalanga Black Aces at FNB Stadium.

The 26-year-old made his PSL debut on 25 August, 2007 against Jomo Cosmos in the second league match of the 2007-08 season, and has since been an everpresent for Chiefs when available.

He has kept 91 clean sheets in the 199 games he has played in all competitions, while also earning 64 caps and taking over the Bafana Bafana captaincy.

Besides his recent ankle injury that forced him to miss a month of action, Khune also sat out a sizeable chunk of the 2009-10 campaign through injury.

Since making his debut seven years ago, Khune has also won every piece of silverware on the domestic scene in the shape of the Telkom Knockout (twice), MTN8, Nedbank Cup and the ABSA Premiership, while he has twice been named the KICK OFF Footballer of the Season.

Khune started this season on 172 appearances.

Well it is common at Chiefs for players to reach such milestones. This is a measure of a team with strong and stable leadership, few coaching changes and professional set-up.

There is so much to boast about at Chiefs. Congratulations to South Africa's finest. Welldone Khune.

A true model player for young up & coming talent to learn from, against all odds he made it through, even forced established keepers to leave chiefs. Like Itu, if you get a break in life? hold on to it and make your own future

Personal milestones usually come with badluck....I see him conceding two soft goals to hand Aces easy points.

I can recall Roger De Sa's milestone of 400 games where he was brutally circumcised by the Maluti boys 4-1.

Recently, Arsene Wenger's milestone of 1000 games ended in a 6-1 drubbing in the hands of Chelsea.

Makhozi be very afraid.
