George Maluleka says it was an "indescribable feeling" to make his Kaizer Chiefs debut in the 1-0 win over Mamelodi Sundowns at Loftus Versveld last night.
Maluleka, who started the top-of-the table clash, joined Amakhosi in a high-profile move from SuperSport United at the beginning of the month.
"I felt very good and it's an indescribable feeling," Maluleka said of his Chiefs bow to the club's official website.
"I think I did well in the preparations after joining the club a few weeks ago but I didn't expect to start last night."
Maluleka revealed Glamour Boys assistant coach Doctor Khumalo and fellow midfielder Reneilwe Letsholonyane gave him helpful advice ahead of the showdown.
"My teammates have been supportive since I arrived here," Maluleka said. "Before the game, Doctor gave me a few supportive tips. I think his influence played a big role in my performance last night.
"'Yeye' (Letsholonyane) also told me to relax and enjoy my game.
"I expected to be nervous but at least I didn't get as nervous as I thought. My first touch was good but it all went horrible as I was disposed and Sundowns almost benefited by nearly scoring a goal as a result of that. From there on I built up confidence and started to play well."
The 25-year-old added: "It was tough and tackles were flying as you would expect in a clash of two teams gunning for the league. We competed well against a tough side and that must have confirmed our intention of what we want to achieve this season."
