Amajita coach Solly Luvhengo says Kaizer Chiefs' new defender Lorenzo Gordinho has a lot of talent, although he has some concerns.
Amakhosi have promoted the 18-year-old to the first team and Luvhengo, who coached Gordinho in the Under-20 national team, believes he has what it takes to crack it at Chiefs.
"He is a central defender, but he can also play right-back," Luvhengo says. "He is a decent player. Lorenzo is strong physically and goes about his job without being flashy."
Luvhengo adds: "My only worry is that he hasn't played football for a long time. He was here and there on trials and for a player of around 15 to 18 years old, that's the important years of football for him. So he hasn't done that.
"When I took him to Nigeria in October for the second leg of the 2013 African Youth Championship qualifiers, I said I was giving him a chance to revive his career.
"I think at the time he was playing for an academy at age 18 with that talent! He should have been playing top-flight football. He will struggle to crack the first XI at Chiefs because there is [Mulomowandau] Mathoho, Tefu Mashamaite, and Morgan Gould is back, but when he gets his chance he must use it.
"That's the same thing I said to Itumeleng Khune and Senzo Meyiwa years ago ... these boys have taken their chances and now it is up to Lorenzo," he adds.
