The Zimbabwean returns to take over the same job he left five and a half years ago to take over as head coach of Moroka Swallows at the beginning of the 2007/08 season.
When Gorowa left the Urban Warriors in 2007 he was assistant to Muhsin Ertugral, but he will return as the deputy to interim coach Jan Versleijen.
Thabo Moloto, the agent who works with Gorowa, confirms that the 41-year-old is back in his old job.
“Ian Gorowa has signed and will return to Ajax as assistant coach on a short-term contract that will be reviewed at the end of the season. He is already in Cape Town,” says Moloto.
Gorowa’s last job was as head of scouting at Mamelodi Sundowns, whom he left after the expiry of his contract.
Gorowa, who has been standing in as part-time assistant coach of Zimbabwe since last year, also served as an assistant and caretaker coach during his time at Chloorkop.
