Shabba: It’s not about me

Posted: 30 January 2013 Time: 01:24 pm

Siphiwe Tshabalala does not harbour any hard feelings over no longer being a starter for Bafana Bafana.

The Kaizer Chiefs winger, who made the first XI against Cape Verde in the opening Africa Cup of Nations clash, was not involved in South Africa’s win over Angola and the riveting draw with Morocco.

Despite being a senior statesman in the Bafana set-up, ‘Shabba’ insists that the team’s results are more important than whether he is playing or not.

“I am part of a squad and I know that I will not always get to play. The team has been doing well and all the players must just behind the cause and give it our full support,” he says.

Going to the game? Send us your fan photos and WIN!

“It’s not about me, it’s about the team. It’s about us trying to win Afcon and uniting the nation through sport.”

Tshabalala says he will be ready if needed. If I get my chance, I will definitely take it.”

Siboniso Gaxa, who looks set for his first start in the tournament against Mali in the quarter-finals following Anele Ngcongca’s suspension, echoed Shabba’s thoughts.

“We’ve got a great squad here. When you get your chance, you take it. Otherwise you just give all your support to those who are playing.”

Guys, let us not be harsh on Nyawana. We are talking about a national "hero" here, he scored that debt in 2010 WC so respect.

You are right my "hero", its not about you but about that lege-let of your that made you fail them trials twice in the English bush. Any patriotic coach will not field a paralympian at the expense of the nation but in this instance, we salute Tovey. Had you been given a chance, you would have been a you-tube hero, with a clip showing you embarassing SA with you none existant leggitjie.

It is also about Perumal & Nemathandanani, these man made a star out of you. You scored 6 of your 7 goals during the match-fixing scandal & since you know that your lucky-match-fixing-charm has been exposed, you find yourself lost & "off-form". But the truth is that you have never been on form, max-fixer.

As I conclude, let me state that I will pray for your leggitjie this afternoon. I will also ask Tau to provide you a toll-free number to Moria when he went to, to pray for his ankle that was distroyed by the whistles. Please remember to ask Sangweni to sign your right leg, his versatility will rub off to your useless leg.

In your Leggitjie, Leg-let, Legwana, Mlenzana, we have a venomous shot.

To all the chimpanzees who are asking why the previous coaches selected him ahead of the likes of Klate and Tlou, well the answer is simple, favouratisim and media influence, the result being, all those coaches failed together with their Nyawana.... i mean 70 caps and 10 goals mostly scored against small teams in friendlies but he is supposed to be an attacking midfield. The fact that you are always selected by coaches does not mean you are better than others...example, most coaches at Pirates pick Mabena as a striker and numbers dont lie, he failed in that department.

@Ma-Eddie,

Do you know what football language is? I have seen players and coaches who dont know English playing in English speaking countries. This language nosense is a tired debate. Nomvete still struggle to speak English yet he has been overseas. One thing for sure, Sangweni tries to speak English atleast and he must be commended for that instead of mocking him and one thing for sure he understand what the coaches say because he has been an outstanding player and very consistance.

Shinji Kagawa said he don't hear even a single word when listning to Sir Alex Ferguson. Kun Auguero arrived at Man City without knowing a single word of English. De Gea is a Spanish boy who arrived at Man U without knowing a single word of English. Many examples, even the GOAT Messi can't speak English better than Dr Sangweni.
Atleast Sangweni can hear and speak English.

For your info, the English people don't laugh at people for speaking broken English, it is you black people who laugh at your fellow colleaques as if you are the owners of that lingo.

@Ma-Eddie,
Do you know what football language is? I have seen players and coaches who dont know English playing in English speaking countries. This language nosense is a tired debate. Nomvete still struggle to speak English yet he has been overseas. One thing for sure, Sangweni tries to speak English atleast and he must be commended for that instead of mocking him and one thing for sure he understand what the coaches say because he has been an outstanding player and very consistance.

You expect ppl to understand that Sangweni is trying to speak uGeorge's lingo , while you fail to understand that Shabba is also trying with his only left foot to play idiski.
This one leg thing is a tired debate , Messi is the best player in the world but he still struggling to use his head . One thing for sure is that Shabba is trying to use his right leg , and he must be commended for that instead of mocking him...and one thing for sure the whole world knows who Siphiwe Tshabalala is and he's been struggling recently but we all know what he's capable of.

SHABBA HAS ACHIEVED IT ALL, THE LIKES OF KLATE WOULD NEVER GO NEAR 75 CAPS.

Is playing for Bafana an achievement? Those 75 caps are all fails because in those caps Bafana achieved nothing and never qualify for Afcom and World cup in his time which means he was a missing link in our National team as since he has been dropped Bafana are going at the ration of 2goals per game

@Overated Average Shabba,

Thats why Javelin players must not be selected, for them its an achievement to play for Bafana but for the champs like abo Sangweni and Jali, its not an achievement to play for Bafana, they want to be champs with Bafana.

Well Ingasende learnt the hard way, good for him because he finally listened to voice of reason before is too late, otherwise Bafana would have been eliminated by now.

I have to agree with Marapo here....

This is a typical & the most annoying thing about blacks... Ma Eddie it's only ignorant blacks that have this sort of view point... you are completely lost..... Bsc at Tuks...? Education is supposed to broaden & open ones mind... what happened to you....?

I could give you a whole lecture on that but lets talk football...

I suspect that you've never played football... long sentences are not used on the football pitch in any language for that matter...

All there is on a pitch is..... single syllable words, vala, kipa, man-one etc are used or interjections of ay ay ay......... either to call the ball or alert your teammates, the other thing is body language & signals...

It's not about good communication verbally... it's mostly about synergies & chemistry...

Football on the field is not knowledge based its more of a spiritual thing... about feeling & intuition....

On Shabba issue, success and being the best is measured in monetary wise as well. i.e. Messi and Ronaldo are the best in the world and they are the best paid in the world. Shabba is the best in SA that is why he is earning more than all Gorillas including the FAT reject from Europe. If Shabba wants he can buy: Jali, Sangweni, Tovey, Klate, COWtrain, Mboooyane and Mabena for his FISH n CHIPS shop, he is just humble enough. There is no way Shabba can be compared to anyone at Pirates because bank accounts and financial statements of what he makes with soccer don't lie, as for Tovey he owes Shabba an apology or is he bitter that Shabba is making more than what he (Tovey) made in his entire career in just one month.
