Double injury blow for Bafana

Gordon Igesund has revealed two players are ruled out of Bafana Bafana's must-win Africa Cup of Nations clash against Angola.

Igesund says he will not be able to field Lerato Chabangu and Kagisho Dikgacoi in any capacity during Wednesday night’s encounter.

“I have two players that will not be involved at all and that is Lerato and ‘KG.’ It is very unfortunate that they are injured, but we have enough depth in the squad to deal with their absence,” Igesund says.

“It’s never nice to see players injured, especially during a long tournament where everyone in your 23-man squad is vital.”

Chabangu has been dealing with a groin strain, while Dikgacoi’s knee has swelled up again.

Their absence could see the coach field Reneilwe Letsholonyane and Dean Furman in the centre of the park against Angola.

People were busy making so much noise about the bafana draw. Especially rats fans , there are no small teams in africa anymore. Look at the number of draws all these teams have played. Chiefs is not and cannot be Bafana Bafana. More than 30 players were called in for the preliminary squad , only the best made the cut. So you can fart the whole day about bafana selections , there isn't much you can do with your grade 12 and average analytical mind.

Biased bacause he left out myeni , klate and jali or biased because he hasn't fielded manyisa and senzo meyiwa ???? Come on. If you have a football brain , you'd understand that each and every player selected for national duty , is worth supported. We haven't lost any game since the start of afcon , yet GI is taking shots from our own emergency citizens. Citizens by default. Bafana is not a football club, Whoever dons the jersey , the whole nation rally's behind. Whether its Jerry Skosana or Benedict McCarthy , we rally behind them and leave the negativity for our Psl clubs when they resume next month.

What say you this is a strategy for a built-in excuse - that they did not have the best owing to injuries? The team appears like it is making heavy-going of things despite home advantage so this excuse will come in handy.

If a player in your 23 man squad is injured in the group stages, does the team not have the right to replace that player with another which is not in the squad?

The reason why I ask this is because I want to know why Gordon does not explore these options.....

Who in the right frame of mind would leave AJ out of his squad. The man together with Oupa contributed a lot in Pirates double treble. We told some fans from our next door that we as pirates we can only support a good team not the kak lamasimba ka GI, we love to see our nation winning things but GI was really bias when selecting players.
I.e. The only player that is harsh that has power that can run 120min that can assist in defending that can assist in going foward that can stop a team like Ethopia who's got more energy more power, the only player is Andile Jali. I take GI as the worse coach ever even pitso is far better.

As for dikgacoi he got a raw deal by playing alongside a defensive midfielder when he does well playing alone just like the way hes doing at his club. Those who. Know soccer n watch KG at club level will tell u that KG does the dirty job quiet good, he just playing along a player like Yeye who does not know when to go or stay, Yeye's game awareness is poor, his defensive abilities are poor, he losses possession often n fail to identify whicch side can he utilies to the best of the teams abilities.

KG played with Furman, yes they where defensive but they never lose shape like when Yeye is playing.

GI please drop Yeye as well, remember what him,Nahayo n Gold did to Cosmos, a leopard never loses it spots.

I have never seen a player that gives possession away cheaply as much as Yeye does at this level.

Yes SABC is the official broadcaster & SS buy footage(pictures) or the rights to broadcast from SABC however SS have their own commentators, Mark Gleeson is the one on SS. Its the same when SABC buys footage for PSL games, they have their own Brain mofokeng's & Gajeni's as commentate, they only buy footage(pictures), may you please misleading the masses.
