Black Leopards have announced the appointment of Abel Makhubele as the caretaker coach for the rest of the season following the departure of Ian Palmer last month.
Makhubele has been an assistant coach at the club since the beginning of last season, but has now been tasked with leading the team.
The 38-year-old becomes the third coach to take charge at Leopards this season after Sunday Chidzambga and Palmer, who has since joined Santos.
According to a statement on the club’s website, “Makhubele has now been at the club for two seasons, and has proved to be diligent, knowledgeable coach, who has a great working relationship with technical director Sunday Chidzambga. He is familiar with the culture of the team and is great with the youngsters at the club – hence it was not a very difficult decision for management to appoint him to the position.”
Makhubele has never coached in the PSL prior to his arrival at Leopards, but had been heavily involved in the Limpopo development structures.
