Uncertain times for Musona

Posted: 2 January 2013 Time: 09:09 am

The recent appointment of former German national team defender Stefan Reuter as FC Augsburg sporting director could further complicate the football career of Zimbabwean striker Knowledge Musona.

Reuter (46) was appointed to succeed Jürgen Rollmann in a bid to save the struggling Bundesliga team from being relegated.

“I'm looking forward to this new challenge at FC Augsburg and I'm confident we can attain our set targets,” Reuter tells the FC Augsburg website.

Augsburg finished the first half of the League tied on nine points together with basement side Greuer Fürth and will have a lot of work to do if they are to avoid relegation.

Musona will also have the challenge of convincing the new coach that he has the ability to play a key role in the revival of the club.

After scoring 15 League goals for Kaizer Chiefs during the 2010/11 season, Musona failed to rediscover the same form when he move to German side 1899 Hoffenheim in July 2011.

The striker was later loaned to FC Augsburg, where he is still to score a goal in 737 minutes of action.
As things stand, Musona no longer commands a regular place in the team’s starting line-up and it remains unclear whether or not he will be in Reuter’s future plans when the Bundesliga resumes on January 19.

Previously, Musona has been linked with a move to either Orlando Pirates or Mamelodi Sundowns.

But while unofficial reports now suggest Musona may also be on Chiefs’ radar, the player’s agent – Pro Sport International director Mike Makaab – has already indicated to KickOff.com that the Zimbabwean international will remain in Germany.

sad part is even if we want to rescue him he contracted until 2015 and he'll come with a heavy price tag whether we buy him outright or get him ngesikweletu. and we cant splash too much money of 1 playa we still need to get mayambela, langwe, khuboni and katongo.

You should be saying Defender were scared of him because he used to terrorise all defenders in SA, same like Mbesuma.

Supporting a club and hatred of another club must not cloud your judgement, so please grow up!!!

I think most of African Soccer lovers needs some counselling.

* Some Pirates Supported hate everything from Chiefs
* Some Chiefs Supporters hate everything from Pirates

It looks like a dieses that is being transmitted from one generation to another. While both are big clubs at Mzansi and both Khoza and Motaung respected figured in SA soccer, suppoters are loosing it on other end.

It is true that Chiefs and Pirates are on form these days and the comment which suggest on of the two is mediocry is a big concern.

Lastly I wish there can be an investigation to the recent derby because I am convinced there was a match fixing involved and the bookmakers will stop at nothing until someone do something and if it continues, soccer is going down big time.

I'm a Bucs fan but this agents things are annoying sometimes because they think of their tummy only and what is the use of keeping the player for another long time in the same league that he can't cope the style of play they apply?it is senseless for Mr Makaab to confirm that the player will remain I Germany whilst things are not on the player's side,He must be trying to move him elsewhere to revive and regain his form even SA or Sweden can be better options.

You can keep on dreaming! Musona is not coming back to the boozers league. He is one of the key players at Augsburg and is a regular. A couple of months ago he lost his place in the starting XI but he fought his way back. So do u think he will throw away first team action in the Bundesliga for a vuvuzela? Musona is playing at right wing for a team that is struggling and how many wingers are banging the nets in Europe? Hw many goes has Antonio Valencia scored this season? Research b4 u publish. The new director of sporting may actually take Musona back to number 9 and the goals will come again!
