Chiefs march past AmaZulu

Posted: 18 December 2012 Time: 09:22 pm

Kaizer Chiefs consolidated their position at the top of the log with a convincing 2-0 win over AmaZulu in a Premiership match at Soccer City on Tuesday night.

Matthew Rusike and Bernard Parker were the men who got a goal each and compounded bottom of the log Usuthu to more misery.

The first real opportunity of the match fell to Chiefs winger Siphiwe Tshabalala in the 15th minute when he found space in the middle of the park and unleashed a shot from 30-yards which went narrowly wide.

Three minutes later the visitors also had their first threat on goal when from a 35-yard free-kick Marc Van Heerden tested Chiefs keeper Itumeleng Khune, but the Bafana shot-stopper made an easy save.

In the 27th minute there was drama when Rusike went down inside the box in what appeared to be a legitimate penalty appeal, but the referee waved away his claims.

But Rusike got the last laugh in the in the 37th minute with his first goal in Chiefs colours.

George Lebese’s cross from the left wing was not properly cleared and the ball fell into the path of Rusike who struck a venomous shot from the edge of the box with his right foot beyond the reach of the helpless AmaZulu keeper Tapuwa Kapini, 1-0.

In the 57th minute, Chiefs should have had a second goal when Lebese laid the ball toward Rusike, but the striker shot high from eight-yards out.

Lebese then once again beat his marker on the left wing before sending a ball into the box for Lehlohonolo Majoro to get onto the end of, but his six-yard header ricochet off the post in the 65th minute.

Eight minutes from time Chiefs doubled their lead through Parker who had been a second half substitute.

The Premiership’s leading goal scorer spotted Kapini off his line and curled a looping shot from just outside the box with his left foot into the back of the net, 2-0.

Chiefs finished with 10-men after Willard Katsande received his marching orders with four minutes remaining after a second bookable offence.

Nonetheless, the win confirms that Chiefs will finish 2012 on top of the Premiership.

Apart from that coach must give each player an assignment during this break to come with the results come February. Kantsande must come back more hungrier.

There's nothing about the league going down to the wire... evidence is clear for all to see that Zebras are fizzling out...

At some stage they were 9 points in the green.... but Q2 displays thier decline very well...

And look at the performance... they are already drained physically.... counter attacking is not child's play...

and now they'll be losing about 8 match fixers for a 2 or so month camp with that useless excuse for a national team...

All-in-all its beyond the realm of dreams to expect Chiefs to even finish 3rd... but I can't take everything away from them given the way they started... they will improve 1 notch on last year's position of 5th to 4th....

Tap-ins require The Fixers to run from box-to-box in order to defend then quickly transition to the opposition box to finish off the counter-attack move that results in tap-ins....

But now their bodies can't do that demanding running anymore thus reverting to long range strikes hoping for goals...

Chiefs will do well finish 4th...

And unlike many other footballers, Tau has decided to go into business while he is still a player.

Tau has joined Bataung Memorial Tombstones, a Katlehong tombstone manufacturing company, as a director.

The company will open a branch in Kimberley, Northern Cape, where Tau hails from.

The injured former Orlando Pirates player said he was planning for life after his playing career.

"I have always wanted to go into business and I saw this as an opportunity," Tau said. "After speaking to Lebohang Khitsane, I decided to go into a partnership with him."

He revealed that it was at a funeral of a former Kaizer Chiefs player that he first came into contact with Khitsane.

"I met him at the funeral service of Emmanuel "Scara" Ngobese," he said.

We exchanged numbers and after that we spoke a lot. He told me a lot about how the business operates and I listened.

"He has been in the business for a while now, so his advice was much appreciated.

Tau called on fellow professional footballers to follow suit and plan for their lives after football.

"Hopefully this will help change the mindset of players," he said.

Khitsane said he was delighted to have Tau on board.

"He is a very humble person and I am glad he is in our team," Khitsane said.

Poor poor poor game........

3 points nonetheless.......The Orlando Referee didn't succeed.

FIFA must investigate tomorrows game and past fixtures. (Orlando Pirates vs Golden Arrows). They must also ask Formula 1 hotels for footage's of when these things were discussed and organised.

People are complaimning about the low number of fan in the stadia but they forget that most of the Industries are closed so people have left the Joburg city and are back home in their different provinces. Even if the Derby is played by this time of the year (after the 15th of December )FNB/Soccer City wouldnt be in full capacity due to the above reason.

Coach, please rest your players now. Even if it means withdrawing them from the AFCON. These guys are overworked. It was clearly evident last nite. Rest the following players: Shabba, Katsande, Tower, Yeye, Major, Khune. Ask Kaiser to use the Q1 money to take them on holiday for the whole month. No training, no soccer. Just pure rest.

I hope Mr Igesund does not play all the Chefs players in the next two friendlies.

Othewise, Amakhosi ajabulile

Drive safley and a happy festive season to all the soccer lovers. Remember, speed kills. Take it easy. Your destination is not going away. You'll get there. Do not drink and drive.
