Maritzburg United and Black Leopards played to a 1-1 draw in Absa Premiership on Wednesday night.
The Team of Choice were enterprising going forward in the first ten minutes, but they were yet to create clear chances.
The likes of Siphesihle Ndlovu, Yannick Zakri and Andrea Fileccia were threatening for United in the last third but not accurate enough to get on target.
Karabo Tshepe came close to breaking the deadlock for Leopards ten minutes before the break with a fantastic volley that was parried over the bar by United goalkeeper Richard Ofori.
Brian Onyango finally found the breakthrough for Fadlu Davids’ charges seven minutes before halftime with a header inside the box following a great cross from Deolin Mekoa, 1-0.
The hosts could not go into the break with their lead as Mwape Musonda levelled matters for Dylian Kerr’s troops on the stroke of halftime with a strike from the penalty spot.
Mekoa almost restored the lead for United eight minutes into the second stanza with a low free-kick from 20-yards that was saved by Leopards shot-stopper Rotshidzwa Muleka.
Lidoda Duvha, who were desperate for three points, were getting physical in their defending as the hosts were pressing to restore their lead.
Mohau Mokate nearly snatched the winner for United six minutes before time with a volley from just outside the box that clipped the top of the crossbar as the sides settled for a share of the spoils.
